#73.1 - Military Tuition Assistance Program

Effective January 1, 2026, EIU will implement the Military Tuition Assistance Program to support active duty military. Proof of service and eligibility for tuition assistance is required to take advantage of the military tuition and fees program. The assistance program will waive all mandatory fees as well as tuition expenses exceeding the Department of Defense's maximum approval tuition rate. Students will be responsible for course charges and other course-specific expenses, including supplemental educational or consumable materials associated with laboratories, studios, field experiences, and/or required online resources.

Proof is required to take advantage of the military tuition and fees program. Military students can provide any of the following:

• Valid Military ID - Cannot be copied; must be verified in person
• Authorized Tuition Assistance Form - Will be approved for the authorized semester only
• Statement of Service - Must contain all of the following information issued from a personnel officer or commanding officer
  • Date
  • Full name of student
  • Branch of service
  • Rank
  • Date entered service
  • Expiration - term of service (ETS)
  • Signature, title, and contact information for the waiver recipient
