Overview

Anthropology is the holistic study of humanity: all people, all times, all places. Anthropology includes archaeology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and biological anthropology. Anthropologists use their knowledge to solve human problems, and to understand the human story and human condition.

Students pursuing this minor at EIU will have the opportunity to take coursework in each of the four subfields of Anthropology (archaeology, cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology), think critically and cross-culturally about culture, society, and human behavior, and learn anthropological research methods, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data, participant observation, interviewing, and ethnographic and technical writing.
