The Academy of Lifelong Learning

Membership Information

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is focused on the learning and growing that happens all throughout the course of one's life in and outside of the classroom. Our goal is to help Charleston and the surrounding communities to embrace the learning that happens in their lives every single day. We offer a variety of free and low-cost classes, workshops, seminars, trips, symposia, clubs and more that provide value to the community by enriching their life experiences through advancement, development, and self-improvement.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is sponsored by the School of Extended Learning at 海角大神. Learning with the Academy is open to all members of the community. Though we strongly encourage membership, courses are available to members and non-members alike. We are dedicated to making our programs as accessible and inclusive as possible for everyone in the community.  If you have suggestions for how we can improve accessibility, please contact us today!  We are committed to doing our best to provide any necessary accommodations to ensure a positive and successful experience for all participants.

• Reduced registration price for events with a fee
• Complimentary tuition to audit one EIU credit course per semester

Academy Membership Prices

Membership Period:  August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026

• Special membership rate for fall 2025 only (through December 31, 2025) 

  Single adult membership $25 

  Couples membership* $40  

  Family of four* $50 (two adults / two children) 

  Additional child* $5 (must purchase family of four membership) 

  Child membership $5 

  *must live in same household to qualify for couples/family memberships
