About Us

Strong Minds Unite is a registered student organization at º£½Ç´óÉñ. Our group meets on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the MLK building to discuss how to access and the benefits of mental health, trainings, topics, and resources EIU offers. We were formed October 8th, 2025 with unanimous support from the Student Government Association.

Our Mission

The purpose(s) of Strong Minds Unite at º£½Ç´óÉñ is to help guide students to mental health resources on campus and other avenues. This group seeks to support their peers and guide them to appropriate departments, initiatives, and programs to help foster an overall healthier EIU for students and their mental health. Topics such as mental health can be very challenging for students so, a group such as ours can help connect with them when they need help and guide them to appropriate resources. Our group helps students become more aware of their resources and how to use them.

Past Events

At past group meetings we’ve discussed what Narcan training, Togetherall, Mindfulness, Stress, and loneliness are and how students can use these resources. Strong Minds Unite partnered with SGA for the Spring into Wellness event in February 2026
where we colored pages of plants, spoke about stress reduction techniques, gave students succulents, and had Botany Club give information on how to care for plants. Strong Minds Unite collaborated with Alyssa Heriaud, the Sexual Health promotion
Coordinator from the Health Education Resource Center and an ambassador for The Pad Project, at a general body meeting February 2026. The guest speaker presented information on The Pad Project, showcased, and lead discussion on the short film "Period. End of Sentence." This film addresses period poverty in rural India and highlights the mental health challenges and stigma surrounding menstruation.
