Disable Private Networking to Minimize Wi-Fi Disconnections

To minimize disconnections from EIU Wi-Fi, private networking needs to be disabled on each device.

On Android Devices:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Network & Internet.
  3. Select Private DNS.
  4. Choose Off to disable Private DNS.
  5. Exit the menu to save your changes.

Note: On some Samsung devices, the path may be Settings > Connections > More connection settings > Private DNS.

On Apple Devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.):

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Wi-Fi.
  3. Tap the information button (i) next to the name of the Wi-Fi network you're connected to.
  4. Tap on Private Wi-Fi Address.
  5. Select Off to disable the feature.
  6. You may need to rejoin the network for the changes to take effect.

Note: iOS 18 and later offers three options: Off, Fixed, and Rotating. Select "Off" to completely disable private addressing.
